Oklahoma is a state in the South Central region of the United States, bordered by Kansas on the north, Missouri on the northeast, Arkansas on the east, Texas on the south, New Mexico on the west, and Colorado on the northwest. It is the 20th-most extensive and the 28th-most populous of the fifty United States. The state's name is derived from the Choctaw words okla and humma, meaning "red people". It is also known informally by its nickname, "The Sooner State", in reference to the non-Native settlers who staked their claims on land before the official opening date of lands in the western Oklahoma Territory or before the Indian Appropriations Act of 1889, which dramatically increased European-American settlement in the eastern Indian Territory. Oklahoma Territory and Indian Territory were merged into the State of Oklahoma when it became the 46th state to enter the union on November 16, 1907. Its residents are known as Oklahomans (or colloquially, "Okies"), and its capital and largest city is Oklahoma City. A major producer of natural gas, oil, and agricultural products, Oklahoma relies on an economic base of aviation, energy, telecommunications, and biotechnology. With ancient mountain ranges, prairie, mesas, and eastern forests, most of Oklahoma lies in the Great Plains, Cross Timbers, and the U.S. Interior Highlands, a region prone to severe weather. More than 25 Native American languages are spoken in Oklahoma, ranking third behind Alaska and California. Oklahoma is on a confluence of three major American cultural regions and historically served as a route for cattle drives, a destination for Southern settlers, and a government-sanctioned territory for Native Americans.

As shown in the given Oklahoma location map that Oklahoma is located in the south-central region of the United States. The Oklahoma map also illustrates that it shares its borders with Arkansas in the east, Missouri in the north-east, Kansas in the north, Colorado and New Mexico in the north-west, and Texas in the south.

Oklahoma was one of the newest states that enlisted in the union; it is 46th state that enters in the United States of America. The largest and capital city of Oklahoma is Oklahoma City. Other important cities are – Tulsa, Norman, Lawton, Broken Arrow, and Edmond.

The economy of the state is largely depends upon the agriculture, oil and natural gas. Other important sectors are aviation, telecommunications, energy, and biotechnology. The capita city Oklahoma City and Tulsa are the main economic center of the state. Geographically, state has small mountain ranges; however, most of the parts lie in the Great Plains and Interior Highlands. Furthermore, the climate type of Oklahoma is continental.

Built into a hillside in Tulsa, The Cave House -- which is someone's actual home -- is a mysterious attraction that was built during prohibition. Driving by the Flintstone-like house, you can't help but wonder what's inside. Luckily, you can find out via tours offered by the owner herself!

The US State Oklahoma occupies 177,663 m², about 1,94 % of the total territory of the USA of 9,148,020 m². The total population of the US State Oklahoma with 3,930,864 inhabitants (in 2017) has already increased by 13,92 % in this millennium. Almost 40 years ago there were 905,574 fewer people. The capital Oklahoma City alone has 661,614 inhabitants.

Oklahoma City became the capital in 1910. Today, the city has a population of approximately 638,367 residents. Oklahoma City was the first city to install parking meters.

Oklahoma is the 20th-largest state in the United States, covering an area of 69,899 square miles (181,040 km²), with 68,595 square miles (177,660 km²) of land and 1,304 square miles (3,380 km²) of water. It lies partly in the Great Plains near the geographical center of the 48 contiguous states. It is bounded on the east by Arkansas and Missouri, on the north by Kansas, on the northwest by Colorado, on the far west by New Mexico, and on the south and near-west by Texas. Much of its border with Texas lies along the Southern Oklahoma Aulacogen, a failed continental rift. The geologic figure defines the placement of the Red River. Oklahoma is between the Great Plains and the Ozark Plateau in the Gulf of Mexico watershed, generally sloping from the high plains of its western boundary to the low wetlands of its southeastern boundary. Its highest and lowest points follow this trend, with its highest peak, Black Mesa, at 4,973 feet (1,516 m) above sea level, situated near its far northwest corner in the Oklahoma Panhandle. The state's lowest point is on the Little River near its far southeastern boundary near the town of Idabel, which dips to 289 feet (88 m) above sea level. Due to Oklahoma's location at the confluence of many geographic regions, the state's climatic regions have a high rate of biodiversity. Forests cover 24 percent of Oklahoma and prairie grasslands composed of shortgrass, mixed-grass, and tallgrass prairie, harbor expansive ecosystems in the state's central and western portions, although cropland has largely replaced native grasses. Oklahoma is in a humid subtropical region. Oklahoma lies in a transition zone between humid continental climate to the north, semi-arid climate to the west, and humid subtropical climate in the central, south and eastern portions of the state. Most of the state lies in an area known as Tornado Alley characterized by frequent interaction between cold, dry air from Canada, warm to hot, dry air from Mexico and the Southwestern U.S., and warm, moist air from the Gulf of Mexico.

Oklahoma is known under different nicknames; aka Native America (used on license plates), or Land of the Red Man, or Sooner State and detailed official information about Oklahoma can be found on the homepage at www.ok.gov.

The Water Quality Index is 54. A measure of the quality of an area’s water supply as rated by the EPA. Higher values are better (100=best). The EPA has a complex method of measuring the watershed quality, using 15 indicators such as pollutants, turbidity, sediments, and toxic discharges. The Superfund Sites Index is 88. The UV Index in Oklahoma = 5.1 and is a measure of an area's exposure to the sun's ultraviolet rays. This is most often a combination of sunny weather, altitude, and latitude. The Comfort Index (higher=better) is 27, where higher values mean a more pleasant climate. The Comfort Index measure recognizes that humidity by itself isn't the problem. (Have you noticed nobody ever complains about the weather being 'cold and humid?) It's in the summertime that we notice the humidity the most, when it's hot and muggy. Our Comfort Index uses a combination of afternoon summer temperature and humidity to closely predict the effect that the humidity will have on people.

Its important to note that this is not the average (or arithmetic mean). The median home price is the middle value when you arrange all the sales prices of homes from lowest to highest. This is a better indicator than the average, because the median is not changed as much by a few unusually high or low values. The property tax rate of $7.40 shown here is the rate per $1,000 of home value. If for simplification for example the tax rate is $14.00 and the home value is $250,000, the property tax would be $14.00 x ($250,000/1000), or $3500. This is the 'effective' tax rate.
