Kinsley is located at 37°5520N 99°2442W (37.922354, -99.411531) According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.29 square miles (3.34 km²), all of it land. The city is approximately 35 miles (56 km) east of Dodge City. The distances to San Francisco and New York City are identical at 1,561 miles (2,512 km) Kinsley was originally called Petersburg, and under the latter name laid out in 1873. It was later renamed Peter's City, and finally the name KInsley was adopted honoring E.W. Kinsly, a capitalist from Boston. The population of the city was 1,456 as of the 2020 census, and is the county seat of Edwards County, Kansas. The median age in the city is 44.5 years; 23.5% of residents were under the age of 18; 5% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 21.7% were from 25 to 44; and 20.5 per cent were 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.17 and the average family size was2.86. The racial makeup of theCity was 94.63% White, 0.54% Native American, 3.4% Asian, and 1.6% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 748% of the population.

History

Kinsley was originally called Petersburg, and under the latter name laid out in 1873. It was later renamed Peter's City, and finally the name Kinsley. The name was adopted honoring E.W. Kinsly, a capitalist from Boston. The first post office was established under the name Peters in April 1873, and was renamed in January, 1874. The post office is still open today, and is located in the same location as the original post office. It is located on the former site of Petersburg, which is now known as the Petersburg neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts, and has a population of around 2,000. The current post office building was built in 1874, and the name was changed to the current one in January 1874 after it was built. It has a current population of about 1,200 people. The town is located near the Boston suburb of Cambridge. It also has a small section of the Boston Harbor, which was once called the Boston Harbour and is now called the Kinsler Harbor. The city's name is derived from the name of a former Boston resident, E. W. K Insley, who was born in Boston and moved to the area in the early 19th century. He died in Boston in 1875, leaving behind a wife and two children, who are still living in the town today. In 1874 the town was named after him, and he was buried in a local cemetery. He was also buried in the city in 1876.

The mayor is the daughter of former mayor and current mayor-elect, who died in the same year of the war.
